Daniel Boone

Daniel Boone

Daniel Boone (1734-1820) was an early frontiersman and legendary hero who helped blaze a trail through the Cumberland Gap, a notch in the Appalachian Mountains near the junction of Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He was born in Pennsylvania and died in Missouri. From 1788 to 1898, he lived near Point Pleasant (then in Virginia) and served in the Kanawha County militia. He also served as a member of the Virginia legislature from Kanawha County.
