The West Virginia State Museum is located at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. The collection of the museum dates back to 1890 with the founding of the West Virginia Historical and Antiquarian Society. Today, the collection has grown to over 60,000 artifacts representative of West Virginia's people, land, and industries throughout the state's history with over 6,000 artifacts on display throughout the immersive timeline of West Virginia history within the museum's 26 Discovery Rooms, 2 Connections Rooms, and show path.
